 2008 Championship Scoring Minimize

Presently, with the addition of 2 races and the restructuring of the old number of races, a total of 29 races is part of the series.  At the meeting it was agreed that to achieve MCRA’s champion status, only the top classification in 20 of the 29 races available will count towards each athlete’s final score.  At the Bob Beal’s week-end events double points be will awarded, GC only.

 

Note that this significant change means that to accumulate points for championship status it will not be necessary to compete in all of the 29 races.  Top classifications in 20 races will be used towards computing your final score even if you compete in more than 20 of the series’ races.

 

The point scoring program will automatically identify your 20 top scores no matter how many races you compete-in.  Again, this means you don’t have to chase points in all of the races, i.e., you will not have to compete in all of the 29 races to win your category’s championship.  Just keep track of your best results.

 

The changes were brought up by a desire of reducing driving times and distances.  A factor that should help enticing more racers to become MCRA’s members.  At least we hope so, hence spread the word and pass it around! 

 

Race pre-registraton points

The 5 race pre-registraton points will be awarded only to competitors physically showing up at each race start-line.  This can be easily checked through “bikereg” registrations and race results.  If one doesn’t appear in both, even if you dnf, no pre-registration points will be awarded.  Racers registering by regular mail must request the promoter to include them in “bikereg” pre-registration list. 

 

Points scoring depth

Points will be awarded 20 places deep instead of the current 10.  This means that one will be able to score points in most races.

 

Points for the 20 places will be counted as follows: 30,25,20,17,16,15,14,13,12,11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1.

 

Points accumulation at different events

No points will be awarded for TT.

 

Bob Beal Weekend

Additionally, competing at all Bob Beal’s events will no longer be a requirement for GC, but it will be required to collect prize money.   Everybody will have the choice of competing in all races or in a single race.  However, no fee reduction will be granted, i.e., a full registration fee will be charged, no matter how many events one will compete-in.

 

Women scoring

1.  Joint men 55+ and women races.  When men 55+ and women compete in the same race, they will be scored as three completely separate fields.  Men 55+ and 65+ will be scored in their own categories.  Women will be scored according to their placing in the women field.

2.  Races including 30+ and 45+ women’s fields.  Women 30+ and 45+ will be scored as two separate fields.  Women should pay attention to register for the correct field and age category.
